MGM and Orion Photos have launched a second trailer for its publishing business satire “American Fiction” starring Jeffrey Wright.
Wright performs Thelonious ‘Monk’ Ellison, a university professor and pissed off novelist who’s fed up with the institution benefiting from ‘Black’ leisure that depends on drained and offensive stereotypes and tropes.
One evening, in a match of spite, Monk concocts a pseudonymous novel embodying each Black cliche he can think about. His agent submits it to a significant writer who instantly gives the largest advance Monk’s ever seen.
Because the novel is rushed to the printers and Hollywood comes courting, Monk should reckon with a monster of his personal making.
Tracee Ellis Ross, John Ortiz, Adam Brody, Keith David, Issa Rae, Sterling Okay. Brown, Erika Alexander, Patrick Fischler, John Ales and Leslie Uggams co-star while Wire Jefferson pens and directs.
