A second trailer has now been released for the DC Comics adaptation “Blue Beetle” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
“Cobra Kai” alum Xolo Mariduena stars as recent college grad Jaime Reyes, the first stand-alone Latino-led superhero movie with a Mexican American teenager.
Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.
When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.
George Lopez, Susan Sarandon, Harvey Guillén, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar and Bruna Marquezine co-star in the film, which marks the third of four DC Comics adaptations hitting the big screen this year. It’s preceded by “The Flash” and will be followed by the “Aquaman” sequel.
Angel Manuel Soto (“Charm City Kings”) directs the film, which was originally announced as an HBO Max streaming exclusive before becoming a full theatrical release on August 18th. It will mark the second last major DC film to be released before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC universe reboots the films.
