Britpop legends Solid have introduced their first new music in six years.
Solid are releasing a brand new album early subsequent 12 months
The ‘Walkaway’ group – now made up of ‘All Change’-era members John Energy (vocals/guitar), Liam ‘Pores and skin’ Tyson (guitar) and Keith O’Neill (drums) – will launch the brand new single, ‘Love is the Name’, on Thursday (26.10.23).
Frontman and bassist John – who can also be recognized for his tenure with legendary Liverpool group The La’s – mentioned of the psychedelic quantity: “‘Love is the Name’ is the title observe off the brand new Solid album. It’s a psychedelic pop track, stuffed with bouncing rhythms with hovering melodies and harmonies. It’s a cosmic name to arms, for Love is the Name… Calling… Calling.”
It’s the primary style of their follow-up to 2017’s ‘Kicking Up the Mud’, which is slated for launch in early 2024.
Solid headed to Granada in Spain to document the album at producer Youth’s Area Mountain studios.
The studio wizard is thought for his work with fellow Britpop-era bands The Verve and Shed Seven.
In accordance with a press launch, John “hinted that the brand new album will really feel like a lacking hyperlink between his time with The La’s and Solid’s first breakthrough with their debut album ‘All Change’.”
It is possible the band may even announce some exhibits after enjoying a handful of festivals this summer time, and enjoying with former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, Shed Seven and Ian Brown.
Within the meantime, followers can catch John on his acoustic solo tour performing Solid classics, solo tunes, and new materials.
John performed bass for ‘There She Goes’ rockers The La’s between 1986 and 1991.
He rose to fame enjoying on the band’s self-titled – and solely – debut album.
He went on to develop into vocalist and guitarist for Solid, with whom he scored the UK high 10 hits ‘Walkway’, ‘Fantastic Time’ and ‘Alright’, with their first three albums reaching comparable heights.
After forming in 1992, the band break up 9 years later, which sparked a solo profession for John, though he would later reunite with Solid in 2010.
