“Was I all the time destined to be considering males?” Full Spectrum Options has unveiled an official trailer for a movie titled Need Traces, which simply premiered on the 2024 Sundance Movie Competition just a few weeks in the past. This hybrid doc movie performed within the “Subsequent” part, for progressive & distinctive movies that break the mildew. It “pushes in opposition to binaries—fiction vs non-fiction, actuality vs fantasy, public vs non-public—with a purpose to spotlight the fallacy of ‘purity’ that undergirds colonialist notions of discrete classes of being (or style).” A trans man travels again in time to an LGBTQ+ archive to know his sexuality. He encounters his previous and current selves throughout an erotic journey of self-discovery. This hybrid documentary is a young love letter to the homosexual trans-masculine group and the legacy that Lou Sullivan, and plenty of unnamed others like him, left behind. That includes Theo Germaine, Aden Hakimi, and Em Modaff. “Need Traces is an urgently wanted contribution to a sociopolitical panorama in determined want of empathy, understanding, levity, & freedom.” Take a look.
This is the primary promo trailer (+ poster) for Jules Rosskam’s doc Need Traces, direct from YouTube:
