The CinemaCon 2024 “Moana 2” footage opens with Moana doing her factor on her boat, using the waves together with her pig pal Pua and having a good time. She says “we’re again” earlier than singing a brand new track about returning to her island. These characters are returning to inform their story — and don’t be concerned, Hei Hei the rooster is again, too. As she sings, there are dolphins within the sea leaping within the water and loving her tune. The motion transitions to the island, and extra folks take over the track, which supplies one thing of a recap of the primary movie. However now Moana and her individuals are constructing and increasing. The track may be very basic Disney exposition in a type of pleasant approach. Ryan Scott factors out that the animation appears very polished and really clear, particularly for one thing that was going to be a Disney+ collection. Moana reunites together with her dad on the island, and it is very candy.
A rapid-fire teaser closed issues out, showcasing Moana in a wierd cave, beating on a drum and it echoing again. (Ryan describes this second as “an ‘Aladdin’ by the use of Hawaii vibe.”) There is a storm, and a voiceover says, “I do not know the place your path will lead, however we by no means cease selecting who we’re” as Moana appears upon a mysterious island. And naturally, Dwayne Johnson’s Maui exhibits up on the very finish to … slice off the tops of some very tall rocks along with his magical hook weapon. I do not know, people — your guess is nearly as good as mine!
